Diary of A Missing Village

Diary of A Missing Village poetically traces the memories and vestiges of people and landscapes impacted by the legacy of the Malayan Emergency, which witnessed the forced relocation of over 500,000 Malaysian Chinese to resettlement camps during the British occupation.

The 2017 British Council Film, Archive and Music Lab (FAMLAB) supported the research portion of Diary of a Missing Village, as part of the multimedia project “Mediating the Archives of the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960),” a collaboration between BAYU and The Wknd Sessions.
